How Google ranks local businesses
Google weighs three things for local results: relevance (how well your business matches the search), distance (how close you are to the searcher) and prominence (how well known and trusted your business is, judged by reviews, links, mentions and your website).
You cannot change your address, but you can control almost everything else: the categories and services on your Google Business Profile, the content on your site, the consistency of your business details across Canadian directories, the number and quality of your reviews, and the local links and mentions that build prominence. That is what local SEO works on.
What is included
Google Business Profile
Categories, services, attributes, photos, products and posts optimised and kept active. See Google Business Profile.
Canadian citations
Consistent listings on the directories that matter in Canada, and clean-up of old or duplicate listings.
Review strategy
A simple, policy-compliant process to ask happy customers for reviews, plus help responding to them.
Location and service-area pages
Genuinely useful pages for the cities and neighbourhoods you serve, not copy-and-paste templates.
Local links
Mentions and links from local news, chambers of commerce, sponsorships and community organisations.
Call and lead tracking
Calls, direction requests and form leads from local search tracked and reported monthly.
Service-area businesses: if you visit customers rather than having them visit you, such as contractors, cleaners or mobile services, your address carries less weight and your service-area setup, content and reviews carry more. We plan your local SEO around the area you actually serve.
Common questions
How long does local SEO take?
Many businesses see map pack improvements within two to three months, especially when their Google Business Profile was incomplete. Competitive categories in Toronto, Vancouver and Montreal take longer.
Can I rank in cities where I do not have an office?
In organic results, yes, with strong location pages and links. In the map pack, distance to the searcher makes it difficult without a real address in that area. We will never create fake addresses, which breaks Google's guidelines and gets listings suspended.
Do you buy reviews?
No. Fake or incentivised reviews break Google's policies and can be illegal under Canadian competition law. We help you get more genuine reviews from real customers.
